Principal's Message
Welcome to the Carrigallen Vocational School website. As you read through the pages of this site you will learn about our wonderful students, our school, and get a feel for the vibrancy and strength of our wider Carrigallen Vocational School community.
Carrigallen Vocational School is one of the leading providers of post-primary education in the Leitrim-Cavan-Longford area. We are situated literally on the border of Connaught, Ulster & Leinster in the beautiful, picturesque town of Carrigallen.
We aim to give every student in our care the very best possible education in order to prepare them for life beyond school. We are a ‘Learning Community’ which encourages staff, students, past students and parents to involve themselves fully in all aspects of school life and to identify themselves with its core values of Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Cooperation and Achievement. Our school provides a broad and differentiated curriculum that caters for varied interests and abilities. Our commitment at Carrigallen Vocational School is to provide a safe and positive learning environment that will empower students to become creative problem solvers, critical thinkers, and inspired learners prepared for school, college, and life in the twenty-first century.
We expect high standards in all that we do at Carrigallen Vocational School. We encourage our students to aim high in their studies, to work hard and to be sensitive to the rights and needs of others. The challenge to be ‘the best you can be’ in academic achievement is supported by a holistic approach to personal learning. The classroom programmes are rich and engaging, and the range of cultural, sporting and performance opportunities provides a huge number of opportunities that allow every student access to an environment where they can participate and excel. We challenge and channel students to set high expectations for themselves and support them to achieve at the highest level.

It is our belief that school should be “The Experience of a Lifetime”. In many cases the post-primary experience sets the stage for successes later in life and provides a lifetime of positive memories for our students.
