Leaving Cert Applied

The Leaving Certificate Applied is a two-year Leaving Certificate available to students who wish to follow a programme with a strong practical and vocational emphasis. It is one of three Leaving Certificate options offered by the Department of Education and Skills.

Credits towards the final award are accumulated throughout the two years of the programme through:

  1. Satisfactory completion of modules. (Maximum of 62 credits)
  2. Performance of student tasks. (Maximum of 70 credits)
  3. Performance in the final examinations. (Maximum of 68 credits)

Emphasis is on continuous assessment with more credits to be gained by this than for final state exams.
