Music Clubs: Choir and Trad Group

Our Choir is co-ordinated by staff members Louise Flynn and Patrice Gallagher. Rehearsals take place weekly and more often in advance of school occasions like religious services and concerts.

The Choir has gone on trips to the National Concert Hall and the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre.

Our Trad Group meets weekly and both the Choir and Trad Group are a central part of many school occasions like the Open Night, religious services and the annual Christmas Concert.

Annual School Variety Concert

Central to every school year is the Variety Concert, usually held at Christmas. From humble beginnings as a school only show of musical performances, the show has grown in scope and audience over the last number of years. The concert is an integral part of the Transition Year experience with TY students tasked with performing in, presenting and providing stage assistance every year.
  • It is run for two nights in the Corn Mill Theatre and is open to the public on both nights.
  • The show comprises songs, duets, ensembles, musical numbers, dance numbers and in the last number of years, an extract from a popular musical.
  • There is also a drama based on a historical theme.

Carrigallen and the Corn Mill Theatre are synonymous with success in drama circles all over Ireland and many of our students are involved in drama groups outside of school and / or go on to study Drama at third level.

The Corn Mill Theatre has been a very supportive friend to our school over the decades and provides us with both the space and the technical personnel to help produce our concerts.
