Green Schools / Gaelbhratach
Our school proudly displays the four Green Flags that it has been awarded for efforts in relation to water conservation, energy conservation and travel initiatives. We are currently working on Bio-Diversity. There have been many environmental initiatives in the school, co-ordinated by the Green Schools Committee, including an energy saving drive, poster campaign, mobile phone collection and recycling campaigns.
The school has been twice awarded this purple flag for its promotion of Irish within the school and the wider community. Activities that have taken place ‘As Gaeilge’ include Irish Céilí Dancing, Christmas Carols, Visit to Day-Care Centre, Traditional Irish Songs, Teaching Céilí Dancing to French students, Story- Writing to read to primary school students, Conversation Circle, Table Quiz, Proverbs, Poster-Making Competition and a Treasure Hunt.
